RIC Receives Goodwill Industries of R.I. Partnership Award
Rhode Island College has received the Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island 2014 Community Partner Award, which honors an organization that achieves success through partnering, supporting and promoting the work of others.
A RIC team of community partners accepted the award at the organization’s 151st annual meeting and award ceremony.
Goodwill Vice President of Program Services Christine Yankee, who nominated RIC for the award, said, “Rhode Island College is a college that truly cares about its students on and off campus and it has developed special programs to support its students.”
Yankee acknowledged Goodwill’s partnership with RIC through the Learning for Life (L4L) program on campus that works to help provide students with the support services and resources necessary for academic success.
Learning for Life Project Director Christiane Petrin Lambert said Goodwill has been a true partner with RIC in the development of the program since its inception.
“Goodwill’s steadfast partnership with Learning for Life exemplifies their values as an organization—to provide opportunities for people through cooperation and the establishment of caring communities of support,” said Lambert.
Other awards presented at the ceremony included the Outstanding Youth award given to RIC student Kellie McMaugh for her notable involvement in the Central Falls/RIC Innovation Lab.
